After a detailed study of the bioclimatic conditions of Humanes de Mohernando Village, the project objective was to design four urban areas of quality.
Studies of wind flows, the facades that receive more sunlight, and the quality of the urban landscape according to the theories of Kevin Lynch and Gordon Cullen, have been summarized in four schemes in axonometric. As a result, it´s easy to see there are many areas with sparse vegetation, squares in need of estancial function and where the Venturi effect occurs when the wind passes through narrow streets. Other problems are the areas where parked cars leaving no space for pedestrians.
The proposal organizes public space in a structure that gives the town a bike path, and different paths connecting the center to the periphery. Spain Square is improved with a fountain and plant areas. The square of the school is cleared of cars and completed with playgrounds and an urban garden. Constitution Avenue is redefined with a covered area with a pergola and various green areas leading to the park where various workshops for residents and meteorological
observation tower arise.
The village is understood as a network of green spaces that link the various squares and parks where public life occurs.
